Pilotage is compulsory on vessels with 500 grt and above. The Pilots are accredited by SBMA Authorities and can be contacted on VHF Channel 19. The Harbor Pilot will board vessels at the Pilot Station with coordinates:

Fuel services are provided by Coastal Subic Bay Terminal (CSBT), a private company, located at the Pol Pier. It has a total storage capacity of 381,552 kl., equivalent to 2,400,000 barrels and a total supply capacity of 2,385 kl.per hour, equivalent to 15,000 barrels per hour. Pol Pier is equipped with 6 fuel loading stations. It has served for bunkering of vessels calling SBMA. Trucks or lorries can be arranged for bunker fuel, but requires an advanced notice to CSBT. |

During the Southwest monsoon, the sea is moderate to rough due to heavy winds and rains from May to September. Note heavy squalls from May to July. Typhoon season is from June to November. During summer, the sea is calm to moderate. |

| FIRE PRECAUTIONS |
| |
Smoking is strictly prohibited in transit sheds, warehouses, on apron of wharves and on vessels handling dangerous, hazardous or inflammable cargo. Smoking is also prohibited in any area where gasoline or similar chemicals are being handled. |

| STEVEDORES |
| |
The accredited loader and the Terminal Operation Division, Seaport Department shall line-up the manning requirements, including the deployment of dedicated cargoes counterchecking scheme.
Shift Hours: For container and general cargo, handling is carried out in two shifts with the following table:
1st Shift - 8:00am to 8:00pm ( Lunch break 12:00nn to 1:00pm)
2nd Shift - 8:00pm to 8:00am ( Meal break 12:00mn to 1:00am) |

| FORMATION OF GANG |
| |
- Container/Breakbulk = 1 gang (shipside/dockside)
- Container handling is operated by 1-2 gangs/ship generally.
- Breakbulk handling is operated by 1 gang for each hatch of a ship, four being the number of gangs.
- Trucks used for cargo handling are composed of two types, direct delivery and jostling.
- Hustling trucks are provided by the consignee
- Dry bulk - Dry bulk handling is operated by 2 gangs on the apron and 4 gangs are employed for the warehouse
- Heavy cargo - Heavy equipment handling is operated by 2 gangs for one ship of RO/RO and LO/LO
